After 5 months of serving in the mission office and the sweet people of Maipu, Chile, Colton will be transferred to serve as a full time proselying missionary again. He has had a bittersweet day today on his birthday saying goodbye to so many loved ones who have filled in to love him as we do. Last year on his birthday was a very hard day for me. I was missing him so much it hurt. This year the tears are that he won't see so many wonderful people that love him there. What a difference a year makes. We love you, Chile friends! Elder Fairbourn is finishing strong in the mission field the next 6 weeks! ~Tina

MY AMAZING PARENTS!! i am officially in my last area! i returned to Parque Ohiggins!! it is such a blessing i get to see my converts and ward members and take out the trash [finish] here with my new comp Elder Franco. he is from argentina from Cordoba!! so if i return home talking like an argentine.....haha no just kidding. i speak very very chilean hahaha. im doing really great. my birthday was fantastic. on saturday we went to peñaflor to have a BBQ with elder salvador. IT WAS SO GREAT. i sent you a bunch of awesome pictures. saying bye to my last ward was so surreal. i feel like i just got there haha. but i wasnt too sad. im pretty accustomed to change now. more than anything i just felt so much love for them. i was able to share my testimony with them in sacrament and i realized how much i really love the maipú ward.
again, i am so so so excited to be here in Parque ohiggins again!! im in the other side of the ward now where elder farah started his mission! today i said bye to elder darton bc he flies home today. he has a picture to pass to you. and now, starting at 6pm today we are going to go teach and have a FHE! im so happy to be a normal missionary again! i did love the office though. elder manning was such a great companion. i learned so much from him. elder mcdermott as well. im going to miss being with them everyday.
there was something i read this week that i wanted to share with you. in the liahona from september, i read elder rasbands article about faith, freedom and religion. it is so great. 2 things he said, that our society has become so blinded by its quest to redress wrongful discrimination against one class of people that it is now in danger of creating another victimized class, people of faith like you and me. i completely agree. with him. i realized that i need to treat everyone fairly but at the same time defend my faith. and then he reminded us about how the savior handled tough questions and challenging viewpoints. he always remained calm. he showed respect and he taught truth. but he never forced anyone to live the way he taught. i think its so key to apply that. our family should always be examples of that. defending what is right but never forcing anyone to believe or do things the way we do. im so grateful for prophets and apostles that teach us these things. because im now down to 6 weeks left, im at a point where im determining 10 life goals with plans.[New tool to help returning missionaries create life long plans]. its something i really enjoy. i love thinking about where i want to be and how im going to accomplish worthy goals in this life. im also very thankful to you both for the amazing example you have always shown me. mom, i read the talk, "You Matter To Him" and it impacted me a lot. how great is it to think that even though we are less than the dust of the earth that we still matter so much to our heavenly father. im so thankful for the sacred truths i know and im thankful to have the light of Christ in my life. im going to finish strong and make you both proud. i love you so much and i hope you always can feel my love. have a great week :)
