(We went to Rod and James. probably the closest thing to american food here in chile haha)
......... im so thankful that brady is doing all that. i hope he gets called to chile santiago oeste!! and then i train him hahah. [Brady's mission papers will be turned in later this week]
our week has been good. im super tired. sleep is such a precious gift haha. honestly, im trying to think of things we have done this week, but i cant remember! everything is going by so fast.
there is a man named hermano salvador that was baptized just a year ago. he was just endowed a few weeks ago, and he helps us a lot with our work. he is from the stake peƱaflor. he helps the missionaries out so much there. well this week he found us a new house to rent for some sister missionaries there so we went to go check out the house. i just love being around that man. he has a great story. before he was a catholic priest for a long long time. but he said he saw the missionaries and told them to come to his house and then he started reading in the book of mormon. and within 2 weeks he was baptized. recently as a mission, president barreiros challenged all of us to read the book of mormon together and finish the day he leaves. so thats what ive been doing! and honestly, it makes such a difference to my day. i love reading in the book of mormon. and i think pres. hinkley said that everytime he read it, he found something new. and its so true! i am learning so many new things from the book of mormon and it allows me to have the spirit during the day. Elder bednar made a promise to everyone that if one is reading the book of mormon everyday with real intent, they will never fall away and will always maintain firm in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
so yeah i have been very happy lately with my studies in the book of mormon :) and actually i would love to share something with my great family, in 2 nephi 4 verse 5, in the end it says ¨i know that if you are instructed in the path that ye must follow, ye shall never abandon it.¨ that was when Lehi was giving his blessing to his sons and grandchildren. in that part he is talking to the children of Laman. i read that verse like 20 times. and there are many different ways to apply it. lehi promis
es that anyone who has been baptized, and later is instructed in the path, will never abandon it. or in other words. every member of the church that is currently on their path back to God, if they read the scriptures and ponder them with prayer, they will never abandon what they have come to know. i also thought about the retention and missionaries with that. and also with parents and their kids. its a 2 way effort. Missionaries must teach the recent converts for about a year after to ¨instruct¨ them, or teach them Christ's gospel. Parents must teach their children with all the energy of their souls. but both of those examples aren't enough. because if the new convert decides to not develop his own testimony, then he never will have one. the same with kids. parents cannot force conversion upon their children neither can missionaries force conversion upon investigatores and converts. They have to do their part too.
